First of all, if you are reading this Amalfi Coast Packing List and preparing for a trip to one of the most beautiful places in the world, I am so incredibly jealous! I would do some crazy things to be packing to go back to Italy and sunshine right now.
For this Amalfi Coast packing list there are items I either brought and would bring again, and the items I wish I had when I was there. I am not a fashion blogger, so my packing always prioritizes reusing clothing, helpful accessories, organization, and products that work with the type of things I am doing each day.
Our days in the Amalfi Coast looked like lots of exploring local towns, taking photos, lounging at beach clubs, leisurely lunches, lots of Spritzes, walking thousands of steps and stairs, and relaxing dinners wherever the best food was. You can see my recommendations for what to eat, see, and do in Sorrento and Positano as well.
I hope this Amalfi Coast Packing List serves you well!
| Suitcase | | Packing Cubes | | Hanging Toiletry Case | | Boarding Pass/Passport Wallet |
Brics Suitcase: You gotta go with a classic (and Italian made) sturdy suitcase if you are going to the Amalfi Coast.
Packing Cubes: These packing cubes have been a traveling staple for me for at least 5 years, and they are still going strong. I bought two sets and I typically use ALL of them no matter where I am traveling.
Hanging Toiletry Case: If you are a toiletry/product junkie like I am then this hanging toiletry case is an absolute must. European bathrooms typically don’t have enough counter space for more than a toothbrush so this has been a game changer for me.
Travel Wallet: Since you are most likely taking trains, planes, and automobiles to get to the Amalfi Coast a well organized (and chic) wallet/organizer will save you so much hassle. Easily fit credit cards, phone, boarding pass, train tickets, and passport all in one place, and all with enough visibility to save you from scrambling when you’re getting documents checked.
| Shampoo/Conditioner| | Facial Cleanser | | Hair Detangler/Heat Protectant| | TintedMoisturizer with SPF |
| SPF Oil | | Tinted Lip Moisturizer|
Activated Charcoal Shampoo/Conditioner: I was really skeptical about this shampoo and conditioner from Amazon, but I used some of my husbands and I was hooked. So great at cleaning salty/greasy hair.
Fresh Face Cleanser: This cleanser has been my holy grail of cleansers for almost 10 years, I don’t understand how it can literally take all makeup/spf off your face with one wash and still be so wildly gentle. Magic!
Amika Hair Detangler/Heat Protectant: THE BEST smelling thing I have ever put on my hair. Even better, it keeps your hair from breaking from the sun/wind/salt water.
Nars Tinted Moisturizer: This is my ride or die facial SPF/tinted moisturizer in one. I hate wearing makeup when I’m going to be sun bathing or swimming so this perfectly hides any flaws and protects my face from the sun at the same time.
Bum Bum Sun Oil (with SPF): First I fell in love with the original “bum bum cream” because it truly is my favorite smell in the world, one whiff and you feel like you are on vacation, but I was thrilled to find out they made a tanning oil with SPF.
Leneige Lip Balm with Tint: My favorite for a low maintenance look while on vacation, I only have to put it on twice a day to keep my lips completely moisturized with a natural hint of color.
| Green Belted Bikini | | Black and White Belted One Piece | | White Crop Top | | Black Print Pants |
| Green Striped Dress | | Black Maxi Dress |
Green Palm Belted Bikini: I love this fun print and a belted high waisted bikini bottom is flattering no matter how many days in a row you had a pizza to yourself for lunch.
Black and White Belted One Piece: I have never received so many compliments from strangers than when I was wearing this suit. It is SO chic and outrageously flattering. Definitely gives a Jackie O in Ravello Summer of ’62 vibe.
White Lace Crop Tube Top: I lived in crop tops with high waisted bottoms which worked out perfectly because it made transitioning out of swimwear to lunch or aperitivo a breeze.
Black Gaucho Pants: These pants are so good looking and SO comfortable for walking around in the heat.
Green Striped Dress: Such a classic look, perfect for strolling around on the hot evening streets after dinner with a gelato.
Black Maxi Dress: This has been a staple for all of my summer European travels for years.
| Platform Sandals | | Hermes Dupe Slides | | Heeled Slides |
Steve Madden Platform Strappy Sandals: These shoes are so cute but more importantly really comfortable for HOURS of walking. The platform protects your feet, the straps won’t give you blisters and keeps you nice and strapped in for those inevitable staircases you will be climbing.
Black Hermes Dupe Slides: Since I can’t rationalize buying an actual pair of Hermes slides, these are the best alternative and less than $20.
Heeled Slides: For the times you need to dress up a bit, these slides are a dream and go with EVERYTHING!
| Straw Hat | | Hoop Earrings | | Scarf | | Sun Glasses | | AirPods | | Kindle Paperwhite | | Multi-USB Adapter |
Straw Hat: An absolute essential if you’re going to be on a boat or just want to give your hair a break.
Hoop Earrings: These earrings go with everything and look so fab.
Silk Scarf: This is a lifesaver when you want to protect your hair from the wind on the boat and on the beach without getting hat head. I saw so many Italians rocking the chic silk scarves from Missoni and Dolce and Gabbana, this is a much cheaper alternative.
Polarized Sunglasses: Now these sunglasses are just the classic and glamorous look that I love rocking in the Amalfi Coast. Also I have to wear polarized sunnies, otherwise what is the point of going to a beautiful place if you can’t really see it?! Under $100 too!
Airpods: I really delayed getting Airpods for way too long, they are perfect for traveling but more importantly, lounging on the beach so you don’t have to worry about cords when you move positions in the sun.
Kindle Paperwhite: My favorite thing in the world is to read in a lounger near the water, but bringing something as heavy as a book or books across the globe blows and I cannot stand sun glare from reading on a phone so this has been my little but completely necessary companion for YEARS.
Multi USB Adapter: This thing is a game changer. My husband bought his first while I was stressing about charging each one of my electronics at strategic times of the day to make sure they all worked the following day. Just bring your USB chargers and charge 4 at a time while adapting to the right country’s power.
I hope this Amalfi Coast packing list was helpful! Let me know if you have questions or just tell me if you are heading the Amalfi Coast soon. It is SUCH a dream. Also, don’t miss my recommendations for restaurants, beach clubs, and activities in Sorrento and Positano, my long haul flight essentials, and more packing lists.
